The Perth & Kinross Violence against Women Partnership (PKVAWP) is a multi-agency partnership which co-ordinates and supports professionals from voluntary and statutory agencies tackle a range of issues, including domestic abuse, prostitution, human trafficking, rape and sexual assault.
From 24 November to 10 December, this year's calendar of events will raise awareness of gender-based violence and encourage individuals and organisations across Perth and Kinross to show their support to eradicate violence against women and girls.
Our overarching aspiration for this year is to "imagine a Perth and Kinross, free from gender based violence" and these 16 days of events serves as a pivotal step towards this vision.
Please note that this programme may be subject to some changes. Check this website and Perth and Kinross Council's Facebook page for the latest news.
Violence against Women includes:
Violence against women is widespread affecting women of any age, class, race, religion, sexuality or ability. Women are most at risk from men they know. When asked, significant numbers of women describe patterns of abusive behaviour and repeat victimisation, rather than discrete assaults. Women experience violence at different points in their lives and significant numbers of women experience more than one type of violence.
This website aims to provide information on violence against women, where to get help and support and how you can support others affected. It also promotes local events held to raise awareness.
